Search Local Farmer is a business to business tool used in conjunction with LocalFarmerProgram.com providing a means for procurers of local food to search fresh produce farms and verify their level of food safety in consideration with potential business transactions.
Procurers can search local farmers participating in the Local Farmer food safety program and view each farmer’s individual Progress Tracker. The Progress Tracker is a 5-step food safety development gauge that helps guide the local farm from initial education to third party certification.
Application users can search local farms by proximity to current location, by specific city, state, or zip code, by commodity, by farm name, and / or by level of food safety progress.
Depending on each farm’s level of food safety implementation, their individual progress tracker may include the following documents:
- Certificate of Food Safety Training
- Personalized Food Safety Plan Manual
- Completed Self-Assessment Report
- Basic G.A.P. Regional Independent Verification Report
- Third Party Certificated Audit Report
If completed, these documents will be available for the Procurer’s review. The user can email the documentation to themselves or others and can seek more information from the local farmer if necessary.
